Hearing Analyzer Lite is a mobile application designed to assess the frequency response of an individual’s hearing sensitivity. The app enables users to conduct a self-administered evaluation within a broad audible frequency range, spanning from 125 Hz to 12,000 Hz.
This tool facilitates preliminary screening for potential hearing impairments by identifying the quietest sound levels—referred to as the gain point—across various frequencies. The results are presented in clear, audiogram-like charts, aiding users in understanding their hearing profile.
It is important to recognize that exposure to high sound pressure levels—such as loud music through portable devices or occupational noise—may increase the risk of hearing loss. Regular self-monitoring using this app can promote ear health awareness and encourage timely consultation with healthcare professionals if concerns arise.
Key Features:
- Test Frequencies: 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000, 12000 Hz
- Test Tone Types: Intermittent (Tone A) / Continuous (Tone B)
- Output Channels: Left / Right
- Graph Display: Frequency response with ATH (Absolute Threshold of Hearing) compensation
- Reset Functionality: Clears current data for re-evaluation
Note: The Absolute Threshold of Hearing (ATH) indicates the minimum sound pressure level detectable by human ears in a quiet environment. While human hearing can extend from approximately 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, sensitivity varies significantly across frequencies and is influenced by age and sex. Typically, sensitivity peaks within the mid-frequency range (1000–5000 Hz), requiring higher sound pressure levels to detect lower and higher frequencies.
Operational Guidance: Prior to conducting the test, ensure the device volume is set to approximately 50%. Users can adjust the test tone volume via the slider; it is recommended to select the lowest setting at which the tone is audible to prevent ear discomfort. For optimal results, genuine Apple earphones are advised during testing.
Additional Remarks: This application aims to promote ongoing awareness of hearing health. However, it does not substitute professional medical advice. If you suspect hearing issues, consult a qualified healthcare provider for comprehensive assessment and management.
